Earlier in my career I was offered a position at a large company that would require some business travel. Leading up to this point in my life I always thought it would be great to have a job where I would get to travel, so I took the opportunity. This did not turn out as I had expected. I did not go to exotic places, stay in luxurious hotels, or have any time off on my trips, weekends included. Working 12 to 14 hour days for weeks on end without a single day off was normal during travel. Having to go to different locations constantly made the travel time a major hassle in itself. I began to look for ways that would make traveling easier.
Regardless of the destination, my company issued laptop was a mandatory carry-on. I was provided a leather messenger bag along with the laptop and that is what I originally used as a carry-on. This created an issue though because a separate carry-on bag was needed for any reasonable amount of personal items, along with a large suitcase on longer trips. The messenger bag was not practical by itself leaving little cargo space with the 17” widescreen laptop stowed inside. I thought that a laptop backpack would make traveling more convenient, but the company would not pay for it because I was already provided a messenger bag.
After a year of traveling with 2 carry-on bags, I finally purchased a laptop backpack. The next trip was almost enjoyable compared to before. After I checked-in my large suite case I had only the laptop backpack to worry about. It had greater capacity than the messenger bag and the interior configuration better accommodated my personal items. Having two shoulder straps made the laptop backpack feel snug and secure against my back, unlike the messenger bag with only a single strap. Above all else, I always had both hands free.
The main benefit of having a laptop backpack for travel is something that I did not realize until boarding the airplane with mine for the first time. As usual all the over head compartments were already full, which used to be a problem with two bags because at least one of them must be stored overhead. Despite the size of the 17” laptop backpack, it fit under the seat in front of me and there was no need to resort to the overhead compartments at all. This also put all my belongings at my disposal for the entire flight. To say this was a welcome change would be an understatement.
Another characteristic of my travels was the lack direct flights, connections were required nearly every trip. Some of the larger airports can sometimes require long walking distances when changing terminals. Having a laptop backpack made the connection ritual much easier. Navigating through crowds of people that are in a hurry was greatly simplified with the backpack tucked out of the way on my back. People used to run into the messenger bag constantly despite my best efforts to keep it positioned behind me.
The laptop backpack was more comfortable having two shoulder straps to distribute the weight of the pack evenly on my body. The single shoulder strap of the messenger bag would “cut” into my shoulder over time forcing the occasional shoulder swap. The messenger bag also focused all the weight on one side of my body causing me to slouch to the opposite side to counterbalance. Despite having good fitness my back would get sore over the course of a travel day.
A messenger bag was convenient after I arrived at my destination, but it was not worth the lack of comfort experienced on long travel durations. A computer bag designed for a Netbook or anything smaller is, for the most part, easier to carry with the reduced size and weight, but anyone traveling with a 13” laptop or larger would benefit using a laptop backpack. The added comfort over long distances and the vast amount of different interior configurations available make the laptop backpack a wise choice.
Initially when I began looking for a laptop backpack I did not find many choices locally so I checked online. Obviously there were plenty of backpacks available, but it was difficult locating a website that had a wide selection of laptop specific backpacks. The websites that did have laptop backpacks did not provide a simple way to view only that category, let alone search options. I was forced to scour through the descriptions for all the backpacks on many different websites in an effort to expand my selection. There had to be an easier way.
Laptopbackpacksource.com is a division of our business created to help fill this niche market by providing a large variety of high quality laptop backpacks in one location. The search options available make it simple to find a laptop backpack that’s perfect for any situation. I was looking for a website just like this earlier in my career when I was in the market, but I could not find any. This is the goal of Laptopbackpacksource.com, to provide our customers with a simple way to find what they need to make traveling a little easier.
